Onggi Pottery
This traditional Korean earthenware is made from clay and ranges greatly in size and usage. The key characteristic of onggi is the small porous surface that allows for gases to move in and out while sealing in liquids, making it ideal for fermenting and aging certain foods and seasonings. Onggi earthenware are highly prized possessions and often handed down through generations of families.
At our farm, we have onggi jars that have been passed down for over three generations, and most have been in our family for at least 50 years. We hope to keep these precious treasures and their symbolic heritage for generations to come.
